Mission and Philosophy
The Mission of Modern Family Therapy is to provide therapeutic services to families, couples, and individuals, using contemporary methods in an approach that is sensitive to the demands of current times, social and cultural norms, and the evolving needs of today's families and individuals while maintaining client-centered-ness and championing the strengths and potential of each client.
Client Centered
Today, most people are realizing that being treated like a number, file, or patient as opposed to a person is limiting all that can be accomplished in a therapeutic relatioship. Modern Family Therapy is dedicated to bringing back the humanity in psychotherapy, family therapy, and behavior sciences. This means a primary focus on the person-to-person connection, that with the right guidance, can can help anyone find their path to healing and to achieve their potential. Once you establish your personal goals for growth, I will customize effective methods to help you acheive that growth. Above all, it is imperative that we form a genuine relationship in order for you to be seen and respected for who you truly are.
Humanistic and Scientific
My goal with Modern Family Therapy is to provide people with a humanistic experience. I would like to take the opportunity to explain what I mean by this. Psychotherapy evolved from philosophers trying to figure out the human condition and how to make the best of it. People were tying to figure out how to be happy, eliminate suffering, and cure the ill. Some apporaches worked, and some did not. Over time we entered a modern era where scientific methods were develped to measure and replicate some of these methods in order to figure out which ones worked best. Science, numbers, and objectivity became dominant over creativity, hope, spirituality, and the subjective experiences that we all have. More recently, the post-modern movement is helping more of us realize that objective science, when taken to the extreme, can make people, and unique human experience, minimally relevant. The humanistic and scientific approach of Modern Family Therapy means using what science has taught us, while also prioritizing the subjective experiences, creativity, potential, and connections that make us all human.

Extended Sessions
In today's world it's not easy to hold on to your time, especially when it seems to slip away so easily with our busy lives. When trying to balance your personal, family, social, and professional lives, time and money become increasingly valuable. It is with this in mind that I provide extended or back to back session-hours as needed. At times I may even recommend this. This is because sometimes the momentum of a longer therapy session can allow clients to achive the maximum benefits over time beyond those which would traditionally be gained over separate sessions, making it more cost-effective.
Home Visits Available
Sessions can take place in my office, or in your home. Working in the comfort of your own home, and with the natural elements that are regularly involved in your day-to-day life can be rich and effective. So, consider letting me come to you!
